Father Gentleman was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Rockville Centre in June of 1997. He is currently serving as the pastor of Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Massapequa, NY. From 2002 to 2009 Father Gentleman served as the chaplain of Holy Trinity DiocesanHigh School. In addition to his responsibilities as school chaplain, Father Gentleman also directed two productions for the Performing Arts Department, The Diary of Anne Frank in 2008 and To Kill a Mockingbird in 2009. From 2019 to 2021, while serving as pastor of Holy Family parish, Fr. Gentleman and his associate pastors served as co-chaplains of Holy Trinity and established a collaborative relationship between the parish school and the high school. In 2021 he was invited to serve in the Holy Trinity Board of Advisors and in 2023, he assumed the position of Chairman of the Board of Advisors.
Having achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1986, Fr. Gentleman continues to be involved in Boy Scouting, and currently serves as the National Chaplain for the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. Additional diocesan service includes, Chairman of the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Belong More Deeply evangelization program, and as a member of the Admissions Board for the Permanent Diaconate, the Diocesan College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council, and the Diocesan Education Commission. He is a weekly cohost of the Catholic Faith Network’s Emmy nominated program, “CFN Live,” and has appeared on the network’s programing in various other capacities, including the annual Telethon.
Fr. Gentleman holds both a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre Arts Performance from the State University of New York College at Fredonia.
